Frequently Asked Questions.
What Products do you use?
I've been in the beauty industry for 15 years and have worked for many big brands, now I have the freedom to use whatever products I believe in instead of trying to sell everything! In my kit I mostly have MAC, Bobbi Brown, and L'Oreal. But if a client has a favourite product of her own that she would like me to use on her then that's no problem.
Do I have to wear heavier make-up for the photos?
You don't need heavy make-up to look beautiful in your photos. Application of products and paying attention to shading and defining your eyes helps but it shouldn't feel any different from your usual make-up.
When should I have my trial?
Trials are usually four to six weeks before the wedding day but there is no right or wrong time. You might feel you want to have it done months beforehand so you can relax about your hair and make-up or often brides have to have it done the week of the wedding.
Because we work as a team you will be able to see the whole look together (in half the time of one stylist doing both hair and make-up too)!
Do all my bridesmaids and mum need a trial?
Often it's just the bride who has a trial and we meet everyone else for the first time on the wedding day. Some bridesmaids decide they want to pay for their own trials and book an appointment on a day they are going out that evening as we can quickly change their hair and make-up before the night out!
Will I need to go and buy all the make-up you use on me at the trial?
The only product you will need to purchase is the lipstick/gloss I use on you. I take notes of everything else I use to help me on the wedding day. Often brides contact me after the trial to ask which brands were used as they've loved the different products.
Will my make-up last all day and night?
I always use a primer and eye shadow primer. A recently discovered fix it spray from the US that I tried out on a bride in Portugal, was found to be perfect in any conditions.
What if you are ill on my wedding day?
If either of us are ill or have an accident then we have the numbers of several hair and make-up artists (that we highly recommend) and we would organise for you as well as notes from your trial date to pass on.
What if I wanted to add in temporary hair extensions?
You can buy clip-on hair extensions from a salon warehouse, such as Sally’s. There is an extra charge to cut and style them into the hair. They are great for achieving fullness and can look completely natural.
Do I or my guests wash my hair on the morning of the wedding?
If you are having your hair blowdryed wash your hair and have it wet for our arrival.
If having a put up if possible wash hair the night before.
Can I have my hair cut and coloured on the run up to my wedding?
Yes appoinments are available at our studio please call monica.
Should I have a facial before the wedding?
Facials will really benefit your skin before the wedding - if your skin looks it's best you will feel great. Sharon does aromatherapy facials in Bee-Hive some weekdays and evenings, ask her for advice on when you should book an appointment.
